Country artist Jack Ingram arrived on the scene in 2001 with a CD titled “Electric.” Only his hardcore fans noticed.

But when the Texas native released “Wherever You Are” last summer, the CD landed at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s country singles chart.

Lightning struck again with the release of the second single, the hilarious “Love You,” which also reached the Top Ten.

Ingram is taking a break from Brad Paisley’s “Bonfires & Amplifiers” tour to bring his high-energy live show, clever lyrical wit and razor-edged, melodic hooks to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center Aug. 12.

The C 107.5 KCIL “End of Summer of Fun Concert” features Ingram and special guest Hip Boot Joe.

Ingram will perform songs off his latest offering, “This Is It,” his first studio album in five years and the first under the Big Machine label.

“It’s been a whole life cycle since I put out a studio record. I’ve become a father, three times over, and have experienced the seismic shifts associated with that – coming to terms with yourself, the central figures and the defining moments in your life,” Ingram says. “My records in the past paralleled my growth and maturity and ‘This Is It’ is a further reflection of that. This is what I’ve been going through and what I’ve been doing.”

Appearing with Ingram is Louisiana’s own Hip Boot Joe, with their unique brand of southern-fried country/rock. The band’s second CD, “Louisiana State Line,” features a bevy of southern notables and a spicy taste of Louisiana.

With the release of “Get Saved,” a gospel tune recorded with the Grammy-nominated Williams Brothers, Hip Boot Joe got national airplay and was nominated for both the GMA’s Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year and Contemporary Gospel Album on the Year in 2005.

Tickets are $25 for floor seats, and $10 for risers at the civic center box office or through Ticketmaster.
