A routine flight makes a crash landing in Le Petit’s Theatre de Terrebonne’s season opener, “Return to the Forbidden Planet.”

The new performance dates are July 1 through July 18 with no showings on Mondays.

The play, which features a spaceship, tentacled monster and a hip-hop robot, is a spoof of William Shakespear’s “The Tempest” set to some classic golden oldies music.

Director Paul Labat describes it as a “campy sci-fi” – “a lot of good ’50s rock ‘n’ roll music, a lot of tongue-and-cheek Shakespearean dialogue and just a fun time for the whole two hours.”

Doug Holloway takes the helm as Captain Tempest. Other crew members include, navigation officers, Scott Carroll and Lauren Erwin, Alex Martin as the ship’s cook, Cookie, Mike Eunice as Bosun Arras and Rosanna Marcel as the science officer/villainess.

When the ship smashes into planet D’Illyria, the crew encounters mad scientist Dr. Prospero, played by Black Guidry and his daughter, Miranda, played by Kami Ellender. Joshua Martin appears as Dr. Prospero’s humorous, servant robot, Ariel.

Dwayne Adams, Robyn Hornsby and Janet Owens are the production staff, Rachel Klaus is the musical director and Nelson Bertinot is the craftsman behind the spaceship set.

General admission is $12. Visit www.houmalittletheatre.com for more information.
