It will begin to look a lot like Christmas Nov. 28 on the Nicholls State University campus when the Colonel’s Concert Choir presents a Candlelight Christmas Concert.

Set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Talbot Theatre, the concert will include a blend of familiar, and not so familiar Christmas songs and carols.

Dr. Rick Duet, associate professor of Mass Communication, will narrate the traditional Christmas story between songs. And to enhance the holiday experience, special lighting will wash over the stage. Karen Gros will accompany the choir, and Dr. Kenneth Klaus, director of Choral Activities at NSU, will conduct.

The 50-voice Concert Choir’s repertoir includes arrangements of holiday favorites such as “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” by Timothy Bandy, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Norman Dello Joio, “Sing We Now of Christmas” by Howard Helvey, “Silent Night” by Wolfgang Linder and “Joy to the World” by Jonathan Wilcocks. Also on tap are composed works by J.S. Bach, Carl Czerny, John Jacob Niles, Jackson Berkey, William Matthias, Robert H. Young and Crawford Thoburn.

Admission to the Candlelight Christmas Concert is free.
