The “Stars and Stripes” will be flying proudly as the Houma-Terrebonne Community Band takes to the stage June 10 at the Houma Municipal Auditorium.

The band’s ninth annual “Flag Day: A Patriotic Salute” is free to the public.

The patriotic celebration honors active, retired and fallen military personnel and all Americans.

“Throughout the event, the Houma-Terrebonne Community Band will present a number of patriotic tunes including: ‘Star Spangled Banner,’ ‘You’re A Grand Old Flag,’ ‘Call to Victory’ and the ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic,’” said Brett Bourg, publicity chairman for the band.

Other numbers include Irving Berlin’s “Songs for America,” “Lest We Forget,” “Taps,” “Let Freedom Ring,” “Sing for America” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Members of the military are encouraged to wear their uniforms, while other guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue as a show of support.

A military procession will precede the concert.

A second free performance by the Houma-Terrebonne Community Band will be presented June 23 at Southland Mall Shopping Center. The Patriotic Concert in the Mall will kick off at 6:30 p.m. outside the JC Penney Court. The concert will feature a number of star spangled tunes.

The Community Band is comprised of former high school band members and teachers. It is a volunteer organization formed for the love of music.
