Pollster to speak at banquet

The public is invited to the 82nd Annual Houma Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

Independent public opinion pollster Scott Rasmussen will be the keynote speaker.

Rasmussen is the founder and President of Rasmussen Reports and frequently appears on Fox News and CNBC.

Early in his career, Rasmussen and his father founded cable sports network ESPN. Since 1994 he has been an independent public opinion pollster providing coverage of business, economic and lifestyle issues.

According to Chamber Membership Services Coordinator Kay Thibodeaux, the evening’s festivities will include installation of Chamber officers.

“Awards will be presented to the Chamber’s Small and Large Businesses of the Year, the Courier’s Most Useful Citizen Award and the Teenager of the Year will receive a $500 scholarship,” Thibodeaux said.

The Veterans League will present the Honor Guard and the Terrebonne High School Chorus will sing the National Anthem.

The Houma Terrebonne Community Band will perform during the meal.

Tickets to the January 19 banquet are $65 and must be purchased at least a week in advance. Doors to the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center open at 6 p.m.
