The Houma music scene has been flooded with new and unique bands over the past year. One of these bands to make a name for itself is Rick Flavored Arsenal.

They have emerged from the pack and are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their debut CD. I got the inside scoop when I sat down with drummer Rick Voisin and asked a few questions about the band and the recording process.

The band is made up of Alex Juckett on synth and guitar, Elvis Adams on vocals, Brennan DeMello on guitar, Brandon Bruce on bass and Voisin on percussion. I asked Voisin how he would describe the band’s sound.

“It’s hard to say. It’s kind of like party rock infused with the spiciness of jalapeños mixed with the sweetness of Hershey bars,” he replies.

The band is currently recording with Adam Clement in the Dead Swamp Studios. The recording process is “somewhat tedious, but that’s what it takes to get a great sound sometimes” Voisin says.

The album can be expected right around the corner for Christmas, and makes a great stocking stuffer.

Rick Flavored Arsenal perform earlier this year. The five-piece band expects to release its first album by the end of the year.
