The Terrebonne Livestock and Agricultural Fair Association (TLAFA) will host the final of its three-part Winter Rodeo Series on Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m., at the Houma Airbase Arena.

The Winter Rodeo Series is a yearly event, and is currently in its 10th year. This year’s Winter Rodeo Series is dedicated to the memory of Andy Joe Dufrene, who died at the age of 21, in an automobile accident, last August.

The rodeo series includes all of the typical rode events, such as barrel racing, bull riding, pole bending, calf roping, team roping and more. “It’s got everything in it, including sheep riding for the little ones,” said Beth Lovell, rodeo chairwoman.

Riders come from around the area to participate in the rodeo. Lovell said there are usually around 150 participants. “We give awards at the third show,” added Lovell. “They do have to participate in at least two events to be able to get an award, if they qualify.

Tickets for the rodeo are sold at the gate. Adult tickets are $8, and tickets for children 12-years and under are $5. Admission is free for kids under 2-years-old.

The TLAFA is also hosting its monthly horse show at the Houma Airbase Arena on Sunday, April 1.

Judged events take place in the morning, and speed events start at noon.

High-point ribbons are awarded for the top-five placements.
