As part of the 2006-2007 Cenac Towing Season of Entertainment, the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center will host the Scooby-Doo in Stagefright Live on Stage! on Sunday, Nov. 26.

The show, which will be performed at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., involves the classic Scooby Doo dilemma – hunting for clues to solve a mystery. Adults and children are welcome to join Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred as they hunt for clues on the set of a monster movie directed by Daphne’s uncle.

The on-stage performance will give adults a chance to rewind to their childhood years by enjoying the show that is billed as a “long-lost cartoon,” while also giving children an opportunity enjoy characters that their parents enjoyed years ago.

Scooby-Doo has enjoyed a successful comeback as of late. The four-legged canine is all over the Cartoon Network and has been the subject of two profitable Warner Brothers movies.

Nov. 26, the Mystery Machine will roll into Houma with another caper to solve. The show transforms into a live version the sights and sounds the Hanna-Barbera cartoon was well known and loved for.

From Scooby and Shaggy’s cowardly manner and ridiculous antics, to the members of Mystery Inc.’s idiosyncrasies, the traveling production is being heralded for capturing the many nuances of the 1970s animated series. In fact, the TV cartoon remains one of the longest-running animated series to air, further proof of the animated detectives’ popularity.

Writer and director Jim Millan’s production of “Scooby-Doo: In Stage Fright” takes the form of a “long lost episode,” according to the author, with the action taking place at the old Clawhammer movie studio. There, Scooby and the gang solve the mystery of a supernatural sprectre wreaking havoc. According to Millan, the gang will face one hilarious situation after another as they hunt for clues on the set of a monster movie directed by Daphne’s totally hip uncle. The audience can expect crazy creatures, perplexing puzzles and plenty of Scooby Snacks. In short, it’s Mystery Inc. doing what it does best. There will also be plenty of groovy music, magical special effects and hilarious hi-jinks.

Tickets range in price from $19.53 to $28.21 and are available at the Civic Center Box Office or by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
