Houma’s own Secret Society in Smaller Lies have been in the studio since early June and should be done recording their first EP by the end of the summer.

Tony Bergeron, the band’s overly energized drummer, says the group recorded all together, at the same time, to capture the natural energy that the band possesses on stage. That seems like quite a task since its shows can be pretty intense.

Joe Harp, the lead singer and synth player, says the band is currently focusing on the local circuit (New Orleans, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge) to build up funds until it can get back out on the road.

Bergeron says he is looking forward to playing in Los Angeles again, but this time with an actual album to promote. Last time they were there, they played eight shows in 10 days and were seeing the same fans at multiple shows. Bergeron says that he is always getting messages from fans that want them to come back.

The band also plans to release a few singles on vinyl if you’re in to that sort of thing.

Catch them live Aug. 11 at The Boxer and The Barrel, 7817 Main St., Houma, with Dummy Dumpster. You can follow them at www.facebook.com/secretsociety.insmallerlies. Stay tuned for album release dates.

Secret Society in Smaller Lies consists of Cory and Tony Bergeron, Joe Harp, Bill Mountain and Christian Yates.
