The historic pride of Houma, the Southdown Plantation House and grounds, is the subject of “Images of Southdown.”

The juried exhibit of approximately 30 paintings and photographs by various artists depicting the plantation or its grounds will be on display beginning June 11 at Southdown Plantation House/Terrebonne Museum.

The art exhibit is part of the commemoration of the museum’s 25th anniversary, director Karen Hart said. Many of the works will also be for sale.

Admission to the exhibit gallery is $2 during regular museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Full admission of $6 is charged to tour the whole museum.

Southdown Plantation House is a 19th century sugar manor house build in 1859. William J. Minor constructed the then one-story Greek Revival house. His son, Henry, added the second floor and Victorian-style architectural features in 1893. The plantation remained in the Minor family until 1932.
