Saturday, Oct. 9 – Friends of the Library will hold the Annual Spelling Bee. First and second grade begins at 9 a.m., third and fourth grade will start at 11 a.m., fifth and sixth grade at 1 p.m., and open competition for all ages will start at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. – Thinking Out Loud Book Discussion facilitated by Jackie Jackson will meet to discuss Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt Main Library.
Sunday, Oct. 10, 2:30 p.m. – Friends of the Library are again sponsoring the annual individual and team trivia competitions. Team trivia – three-five member teams – will begin.
Thursday, Oct. 14, 6 p.m. – Boys to Men Panel Discussion to address issues parents have to keep young men on the right track during adolescence. Panel of speakers includes Gail Van Doorne, youth service coordinator for the Work Connection, Pastor Jamison Harris, the former youth minister for Rock of Ages Baptist church, Greg Gleason with Options for Independence, Christopher Steward with the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center, and Mary Johnny, a parent.
