Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. – Steve Belliveau will present his program “Getting Excited about Science.” This is a fast-paced show that has it all – music, humor, and fun for kindergarteners through 6th graders.


Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. – Mother’s Day Craft & Picnic for children of all ages. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket.


Saturday, May 16 at 3 p.m. – Game Day with Nintendo Wii for 9-12 year olds.

Tuesday, May 5, 6:30 p.m. – Thinking Out Loud Book Discussion led by Jackie Jackson, NSU English instructor, will discuss “View from Castle Rock” by Alice Munro.

Monday, May 11 & 25 – Wii Can Do It Group will participate in low-impact exercise using the Nintendo Wii gaming system. Bowling and golf are available. These games are easy to learn and a great way to get in exercise. Water is provided.

Wednesday, May 13, 6:30 p.m. – Dr. R. Allen Alexander will present a lecture on southern literature in conjunction with the exhibit Faces and Stories: A Portrait of Southern Writers in the second floor DE room.

Sunday, May 17, 2 p.m. – Friends of the Library semi-annual individual and team trivia competition. Registration is required.

Wednesday, May 20, Noon – Learning with Leaders Group: Spend lunch networking with other working young professionals in your community. Bring a brown bag lunch and your business card to the library to meet other young, emerging leaders from Terrebonne Parish. Guest speaker: TBA. Water and lemonade provided.

Exhibits at Main Library

Faces and Stories: A Portrait of Southern Writers will be on exhibit throughout the month of May. This exhibit is a collection of the photography of Curt Richter, and is a traveling exhibit from Southern Visions: The Southern Arts and Culture Traveling Exhibits Program operated by the Southern Arts Federation.

Emilie Pitre’s Cookie Cutter Collection will remain on display throughout May.
