Famous now is Santa’s scout, the mischievous elf who seems to be everywhere but the shelf.

As the legend goes, this smiling elf was sent by Papa Noel to keep a watchful eye over the kids. He reports back to the Big Guy every night and makes it easier for Santa to keep the naughty and nice lists accurate. But this spy is shy: Unless everyone in the house is asleep, he sits rigid and observes.

Because he is charged with the magic allows him to fly to the North Pole, the legend holds, he is too fragile to be touched.

Perhaps his most famous quality, though, is his creativity. The elf doesn’t watch from the same place for two consecutive days; he moves around. Sometimes he hides amid books or plants, as he should do in the service of his master. But on other occasions, an early awakening catches the elf making his own mischief: eating cookies, drinking milk, snooping, etc.

The suspense of where he’ll freeze each day brings excitement to the children the elf was sent to watch over.

As documenters of local goings on, our interest has also been piqued. We want to know more about the spies’ whereabouts. Has your elf found a unique vantage point to satisfy his voyeurism? If so, email a picture to editor@gumboguide.com. We’ll post many of your submissions on our Facebook page: /GumboEntertainmentGuide.

This elf was caught in a compromising position. Where is yours?
