Terrebonne Parish leaders have announced that plans for Mardi Gras in 2022 are poised to move forward.

Terrebonne Parish has been affected by COVID-19 and of course, Hurricane Ida that hit Terrebonne Parish “giving us a one-two punch,” a letter written to Terrebonne Parish Carnival Club Presidents and Parade Captains said. With COVID-19 numbers vastly improving and the Hurricane recovery efforts moving accordingly, “with all the traditional grandeur, themes, and mystical excitement the plans for Mardi Gras 2022 are upon us and it is our pleasure to announce our intention for this Mardi Gras celebration to commence,” the letter stated.

They would like to remind people to keep all safety and health policies intact so they can ensure a wonderful Mardi Gras season that Terrebonne Parish has hosted for decades, “we are hoping that all Terrebonne Parish can look forward to this enjoyment in 2022.”

The letter was signed by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet, Terrebonne Parish President Gordon E. Dove, Houma Police Department Chief of Police, and Terrebonne Parish Public Safety Director Steve Ponville.
