The Krewe of Tradition will be hosting several seminars and workshops during the month of January on how to create sustainable throws for Mardi Gras (and for any occasion!)

Typical throws for a Mardi Gras parade include plastic beads and other trinkets. The Krewe of Tradition is excited to share some ideas for other throws that are better for the environment.

Each of these Saturday workshops is family-friendly, and hosted at the Main Branch of the Terrebonne Parish Library from 1pm – 4pm.

Jan 6: Seed Bombs!
In this workshop, kids will be educated on planting seeds using “seed bombs”! They will get to create seed bombs, and learn about sustainability! These seed bombs can be handed out at our KOT parade or brought home to be planted.

Jan 13: Paper Beads
This workshop will teach kids how to create beads using paper. They will create the individual beads and string them together to create carnival throws! These beads can be handed out at the KOT parade or brought home to hang as fabulous carnival decoration! Perfect to accent a carnival tree or family home!

Jan 20: Leaf Confetti
This workshop is geared to create “confetti” using naturally resourced leaves! The leaves maybe pressed, crunched, and even punctured to create designs as confetti!

Jan 27: Pecan Decorating
Pecan decorating at its finest! This KOT workshop is to allow creative imagination while decorating our commemorative pecans! These pecans can be decorated in any way! Hand them out at the KOT parade or dress up a mantle at home. You can also gift them to family and friends in the community!
