Godfrey “Gus” Bergeron Jr., age 65, native of Theriot La. and long-term resident of Houma La., passed away on Saturday, December 30,2023.


Relatives and friends of the family are welcome to attend a visitation in Gus’s honor at Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2023, starting at 4pm until 8pm. Visitation is to follow on Saturday, January 6, 2023, from 9am until service time at 11am. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Gus is survived by his mother Enola Bergeron; sisters, Emma Deroche (Carlton), Ann Hooks (Robert), Christine Cherry (David), Ellen Madere (Rene), Linette Champagne (Russell Authement), and Joan Bergeron (Ned Gautreaux); brothers, John Bergeron (Melanie), and Steven Bergeron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gus is preceded in death by his father Godfrey Bergeron Sr.; Godchild, Jonathan Toups; nephew, Eli Champagne; brother-in-law’s, David Champagne and Glenn Toups; sister-in-law, Jennie Bergeron; and grandparents, Albert and Augusta Bergeron and Dulvia and Elsie Mae Duplantis.


Gus was an avid Saints fan. He enjoyed watching history documentaries, reading, fishing, and alligator hunting with his dad. Above all, Gus enjoyed spending his free time with his loved ones, friends, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
