(AP) A former Terrebonne sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Glenn Brunet, 47, was convicted Sept. 13 of four counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. He was sentenced Tuesday by State District Judge Johnny Walker.

“The defendant was a law-enforcement officer and he was in a position of trust,” the judge said.

The jury acquitted Brunet of seven other counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
