This weekend was a deadly one for Tri-parish motorists as three separate fatal crashes occurred on local roads.

On Friday evening, Louisiana State Police Troop C reported to a single-vehicle crash on LA. Highway 3235 at the LA. Highway 24 intersection.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:19 p.m., when a 1998 Honda Civic driven by 22-year-old Galliano native Patrick Hebert failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, forcing the vehicle into a ditch embankment.

The vehicle’s middle rear passenger, 16-year-old Larose native Ashley Thibodaux was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans with critical injuries. She died a day later due to the injuries she sustained in the crash.

Hebert suffered minor injuries.

Toby Cheramie, 21, of Larose was the vehicle’s right-front passenger and he received moderate injuries.

A 16-year-old Cut Off female was the left-rear passenger and she received moderate injuries. The vehicle’s right-rear passenger was a 15-year old Galliano female and she, too, received moderate injuries.

Troop C said they believe speed was a factor in the crash and none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts.

The involvement of blood or alcohol is not known at this time, but Troop C said blood was drawn and toxicology results are pending.

Approximately 12 hours later early Saturday morning, Troop C was called to Louisiana Highway 315 for another fatal accident, this time occurring a half mile north of Crozier Drive in Houma.

State Police say this accident occurred after a 1998 GMC Sierra driven by Charley Bolden, 61, of Houma, was heading northbound on 315 when he accidentally struck Angelina M. Allen, 38, of Houma, who had walked into the northbound lane of the road in the path of the vehicle.

Allen was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident, which occurred in an area with no street lighting. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.

Both Charley Bolden and his passenger, Charley Bolden, Jr., 30, of Houma, escaped the crash without injuries.

A breathalyzer test on the driver indicated alcohol was not a cause for the accident. Toxicology test results are still pending to determine whether Allen had alcohol or drugs in her system.

Saturday night at approximately 8:12 p.m., Troop C was called back to Lafourche Parish, this time in Des Allemands, west of the US 90 overpass for another single-car crash.

Troop C said Blake Kenworthey, 20, of Abita Springs, was operating a 1999 Ford Explorer westbound on the outside lane, when he failed to negotiate a left banking curve and ran off the roadway to the left and overturned his vehicle.

Kenworthey was ejected from the vehicle during the incident and was not wearing his seat belt. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.

Alcohol or drug use is not known and is pending toxicology results from the Coroner’s Office.
