The James Aitkens Foundation’s Annual Christmas Giveaway is set for this weekend in Houma.
The event will be held on Saturday at St. Lucy’s Gym in Houma. It will begin at 10 a.m.
The Aitkens Foundation has been hosting this event for many years in commemoration of the life of Mr. Atkins, who also hosted a bike giveaway each holiday season to help needy children.
Since the event’s inception, thousands of children locally have been able to get bikes for Christmas.
This year’s event will feature both bikes and scooters and organizers said that while they have a large supply, the toys will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
