Bayou Community Academy in Thibodaux will officially break ground their new school site on Thursday,  January 25, 2024 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at 951 N. Canal Blvd.

The Bayou Community Academy (BCA) Board and Administration cordially invites any interested community members to attend the groundbreaking as they make BCA history!

The new building will be 70,000 square feet, and will host the Bayou Community Academy’s PreK-8th grade student body, alongside a gymnasium, cafeteria, science lab, art lab, band space, and more. The new school will be located at 951 North Canal Boulevard.

“We started this process a very long time ago as a charter school–since we are currently renting from Lafourche Parish School Board, we wanted to eventually build our own school,” explained Melanie Becnel, Director of Bayou Community Academy, in an interview earlier in December. “We are so excited for what this will do for our school and our community. Our kids deserve a new and up-to-date environment, and we are so happy to provide it for them.”

BCA Administration asks guests to please consider carpooling to the event. Please do not park in the median. Overflow parking will be available in Andolsek Park.
