Houma Police rushed to 402 Leona St. last Monday afternoon after receiving a 9-1-1 hang-up call.

Department spokesman Lt. Todd Duplantis said officers learned Jonathon Thompson, 29, of 402 Leona St., had allegedly fired two shots at a vehicle his girlfriend was in and, once she exited, had beat her.

The couple was inside a 1995 Subaru Legacy when the disagreement erupted, Duplantis said. When the woman refused to take Thompson to a friend’s house, he fired two shots with a handgun. One round hit the passenger-side window and the other struck the windshield on the driver’s side, the spokesman said.

No one was hurt by the bullets.

When the woman exited the vehicle, Thompson struck her. Duplantis said officers reported scratches on the woman’s neck and arms.

Thompson ran from the scene, reportedly running through the backyards of neighboring residences. Duplantis said officers patrolling the area spotted him in the area of Louise Street. They found the handgun, which Thompson allegedly tried to hide in an ant pile.

Thompson was charged with aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
