A verbal argument about a Houma man’s clubbing habits and marijuana possession led to his arrest early Saturday.

Houma Police were called to 1406 Acadian Drive, Apt. #15 around 3:47 a.m. by a 20-year-old woman who said her boyfriend had left a small bag of marijuana at her house, according to department spokesman Lt. Todd Duplantis.

After staying out at the clubs all night, Clifford Patterson returned home with a small bag of marijuana. An argument ensued. Duplantis said the woman told police she and Patterson argued after she told him she did not want narcotics in her residence. She demanded he leave if he was not going to respect the request, the spokesman said.

Clifford angrily left the house, leaving his marijuana behind. The woman called police to come pick up the narcotic.

Duplantis said that while the woman waited outside for police to arrive, Clifford drove by in his vehicle and threw out a large plastic bag of marijuana, a digital scale, sandwich bags and rolling papers. He sped away toward the Houma Tunnel, the officer said.

Officers seized the marijuana, which weighed approximately 271 grams and carried a street value of $1,526.

Sunday evening, Houma Police returned to the Acadian Drive residence to conduct a follow-up investigation, Duplantis said.

They found Patterson inside the residence sleeping.

He was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. Duplantis said officers found a small bag of marijuana and an Ecstasy pill in his front pant pocket. They also found a small red baggie with seven pills, and possibly and eighth smashed up, in the bedroom. The drugs were also seized for evidence.

Patterson was arrested for two counts of possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
