Burning body found in Gray field

Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office found the burning body of a Houma man early Monday morning when they were called to respond to a field fire in the Kody Court area of Gray.

According to TPSO Maj. Malcolm Wolfe, deputies arrived at the scene at approximately 1 a.m., to find a white male whom had been set on fire.


The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, but it was unclear if he had died before or as a result of being set on fire. An autopsy is pending and detectives are investigating the case as a homicide.

The victim was identified Monday afternoon as Russell Lynn Jacobs, 52, of 1047 Lafayette St. in Houma.
