A Choctaw man was killed after Thursday after his car spun out of control and hit a culvert on Choctaw Road, state police said.

Wayne Ordoyne, 37, crossed the centerline in his 1997 Chevrolet Camaro and overcorrected to the right, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise. State police said the car spun off the road and struck a culvert. The impact caused the car to begin rotating counterclockwise, ejecting Ordoyne in the process.

Ordoyne was the car’s only occupant. Acadian Ambulance transported him to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where he later died, state police said.

Ordoyne was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

State police said alcohol use is a suspected cause of the wreck. Blood was drawn from Ordoyne and send to a crime lab for analysis.

No charges are pending in the crash, according to state police.
