3rd DWI lands driver in a house, then jail

Thibodaux Police Chief Scott Silverii said that a man is in custody for his third DWI.

Last Tuesday before midnight, TPD learned of a hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of North 8th Street in Thibodaux.

When on the scene, authorities said they found a 2008 Chevy Silverado crashed into a house. During the crash, a gas line was hit, causing gas to leak out. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene upon the crash.

Bystanders were evacuated until authorities could seal the leak.

TPD said after investigation, they were led to the vehicle’s owner, Josiah Delarge, 28, of 836 North 8th St., Thibodaux.

Authorities linked the suspect to the crash and said that he appeared highly intoxicated at the time of contact.

After failing a field sobriety test, Delarge was placed under arrest and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where he was charged with third-offense DWI and hit and run.

During the call, HPD was advised that the suspect, Christopher Roosevelt Pierce Wilson, 21, of Lafayette, was probably in Houma.

Last Thursday at approximately 12:15 a.m., U.S. Marshalls, the HPD and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office met at HPD headquarters to discuss addresses on Louise and Columbus streets where the suspect could possibly be hiding.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Columbus Street that morning and made contact with residents inside the location.

Once inside, Wilson was located asleep in a rear bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident.

Wilson is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder.
