Gibson man charged with aggravated rape

A 21-year-old Gibson man was arrested for aggravated rape and aggravated incest Saturday night, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.


Charles Robinson Jr., 186 Vega Court, was arrested at 7:32 p.m. Saturday after detectives responded to an aggravated rape complaint at a local hospital.


After interviewing Robinson at his home, detectives transported him to the sheriff’s office for further questioning.

The name and age of the victim is not being release because of the nature of the complaint.


Robinson remained jailed as of Monday with no bond.


If convicted of the crime, he could face the death penalty or life in prison.

Southland Square Apartments car burglars caught


Two Gibson teens and a Lafayette man were arrested early Friday in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries at the Southland Square Apartments on Armour Drive.


Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene around 2 a.m. Friday. As they pulled into the complex, the suspects ran from the scene, but were caught by deputies.

According to a news release, deputies did retrieve some of the stolen items.


Detectives charged Derrick Farlo, 19, 6076 North Bayou Black Dr., Gibson; Joshua Resteivo, 17, 6072 North Bayou Black Dr., Gibson; and Stephen Melson, 22, 915 South College Rd., Apt. 206, Lafayette, with the crime.


Farlo was arrested for three counts of vehicle burglary in connection with the vehicles that were burglarized on this particular morning. Resteivo and Melson were also arrested for three counts of burglary and an additional four counts of simple burglary in connection with vehicles that were burglarized at Southland Square Apartments the previous weekend.†

Farlo remains in jail on a $15,000 bond.†Melson and Resteivo both remain in jail on a $35,000.†


Detectives are asking anyone who was a victim of a vehicle burglary at this location or has information concerning this investigation to call the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office detective bureau, (985) 876-2500.†


Gray man charged with aggravated burglary

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s detectives made three arrests in connection with a March 13 incident in which the trio barged into the home of a Gray woman, brandished a handgun and demanded money.


According to a release, the woman complied with the burglars, giving them her purse. She was not injured in the incident.


After a three-week investigation, detectives arrested two men and a 12-year-old for aggravated burglary.

Jason Ross, 18, 217 Mobile Estate Dr., Gray, and Damion Jones, 18, 201 Mobile Estate Dr., Gray, were arrested for aggravated burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Both men remained in the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a $200,000 bond.


The 12-year-old was also charged with aggravated burglary, and remains at the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Jail where he is being held without bond. The name of the juvenile is not being released because of his age.


Houma man faces multiple charges after threatening others with steak knife

Houma Police arrested a local man after he threatened the people inside his Academy Street home Sunday evening.


Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Academy Street at 8:28 p.m., where they found Michael Amacker, 43, of 102 Magnolia St., Houma, holding a small steak knife.


According to a news release, Amacker dropped the knife when he was ordered by police. But when officers went to load him in a patrol unit, he began kicking them, police said. A Tazer was used to subdue Amacker, who was then placed in the vehicle.

Witnesses told police that Amacker had been drinking and began to cause a disturbance, even arming himself with the knife and threatening others inside the home, police said.


Amacker was transported to the Terrebonne Parish jail where he was charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage, resisting an officer, and battery on a police officer.


Houma man charged in hit-and-run

Houma Police charged a local man with hit-and-run driving after his Jeep Cherokee struck a concrete barrier at the intersection of Grand Caillou Road and Main Street Saturday evening.


A caller notified police that the Jeep had hit the barrier and was stuck on the overpass, however, when officers arrived, the vehicle had managed to drive off, police said.

Officers spotted the point of impact on the wall and a 75-foot “burn out” mark along the length of the wall.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle turned from Louise Street and hit the concrete wall. The driver then turned on to Peach Street, according to police.

Police patrolled the area, but did not find the Jeep. However, about about an hour later a Jeep with front-end damage was found parked at the end of Peach Street.

Officers issued a hit-and-run driving summons to Floyd Gray, 58, of 4448 Country Drive, Houma. A local wrecker service company towed Gray’s Jeep from the scene.

Erratic driving leads to Houma man’s arrest

While patrolling the Daniel Turner Trailer Park area late Saturday, Houma Police spotted a white pickup truck driving recklessly, almost hitting a trailer, according to a release.

The officers stopped Michael Nixon, 18, of 8938 Norman St., who was driving the truck.

Inside the truck, police found over $350 in cash and a medicine bottle containing several pieces of suspected crack cocaine, police said. Nixon also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.

Nixon was arrested for reckless operation, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, no driver’s license, and the warrant for uncontrollable juvenile. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

The suspected crack cocaine seized by officers weighed approximately 9 grams, which has a street value of over $900, police said.

Houma man charged with aggravated criminal damage to property

Houma Police arrested a local man Friday night after he struck another car on the passenger’s at a high rate of speed and fled the scene.

As Officer John Hebert was patrolling the area near New Orleans Boulevard and Park Avenue, he spotted a red Nissan Maxima accelerate and intentionally hit a Mitsubishi Galant around 8 p.m. The Nissan quickly fled the scene, momentarily losing control of the vehicle, skidding onto the right shoulder of the road and nearly striking a telephone pole, police said.

Hebert pursued the Nissan, which regained control and accelerated back onto the roadway, crossed both lanes of traffic, cutting off an 18-wheeler in the process and jumping the parking bumper in the parking lot of the DA’s office located at the intersection of Park Avenue and Gabasse Street, according to police.

After a brief pursuit, Hebert was able to stop the Nissan at Main and Gabasse streets.

According to the 18-year-old female driving the Galant, Ricardo Alvarado, 29, of 533 Roanoke St., the owner of the Maxima, had been following her for approximately five minutes. She told police that when he pulled up beside her she told him she was calling the police and to quit following her. The woman said that’s when Alvarado hit her vehicle and left the scene.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Alvarado was arrested for aggravated criminal damage to property and aggravated flight from an officer. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

Illegal dumping in Lafourche leads to drug charges

An alert citizen recorded the license plate of a vehicle that illegally dumped trash on the bayouside between West 189th and West 190th streets in Galliano Thursday. The investigation lead to the arrest of two people on drug charges, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

While investigating the illegal dumping complaint, Deputy Joshua Estes traced the vehicle to Easton Serigny, 43, of 154 Easst 69th Place in Cut Off.

When the deputy went to the residence, he detected the smell of marijuana burning, according to a news release. The deputy spotted five people n two men and three women n outside under a porch. As he approached, one of the men put something under his seat, the release said.

When a third man walked out of the house, Estes ordered everyone out of the house and called for a backup deputy.

All six people were given their Miranda warnings, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies were given written consent to search the residence. Behind a couch on the porch, deputies found Serigny’s leather handbag, which contained 2.5 grams of marijuana, two gravity balance scales, one plastic container with marijuana residue, one cigarette roller, two hemostats, one pill bottle containing 15 marijuana roaches, a pipe with suspected marijuana residue, a small sandwich bag containing approximately 2.5 grams of marijuana, and one pack of rolling papers.

They also found five grinders with suspected marijuana residue, an additional pipe with suspected marijuana residue, and four fingernail clippers with suspected marijuana residue. Deputies also found a small sandwich bag with approximately six grams of marijuana and a cigar plastic container with three marijuana roaches belonging to Trey Dardar.

None of the others had illegal narcotics with them, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies issued a summons to Serigny for illegal possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a summons for littering a state highway.

Dardar, 20, of 204 East 75th Street, Cut Off, was given a summons for illegal possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
