A Cut Off man died Wednesday when his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole in Galliano, according to a State Police Troop C spokesman.

Madison St. Pierre, 22, was killed when his 1993 Lincoln Town Car swerved off the road on La. 308 and struck a utility pole, Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt said. The car traveled another 200 feet before coming to a rest, he said.

St. Pierre was wearing a seatbelt; he was the only occupant of the Town Car, Hyatt said. The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

Hyatt said blood will be drawn from St. Pierre, as required by state law, and will be sent to the State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge for analysis to determine if alcohol or drug use were factors in the crash.

No charges are pending in the crash, the spokesman said. Trooper Tony Eymard is investigating the crash.
