The first calendar weekend of autumn means big fun for party goers in both Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.

The weekend slate of fun is loaded locally as this weekend marks the Best of the Bayou Festival in downtown Houma and also the Hurricane Festival at the Cut Off Youth Center.

Best of the Bayou (BOB) Music Fest bills itself as Houma’s premier music festival. A peak at the 2017 lineup shows they have an accurate stake to that claim.

This year’s features several favorites including Cowboy Mouth, Flow Tribe, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Josh Garrett Band, and also 38 Special.

The festival begins Friday at 5 p.m. in downtown and ends at 11 p.m. The action picks back up at noon Saturday for an all-day affair.

In addition to the music, several food and art vendors will be on hand to entertain the masses.

Down in Cut Off, the Hurricane Festival will also feature music from several known musical groups, including Ruff N Ready, South Paw, and Ryan Foret and Foret Tradition, among others.

The festival, now in its 51st year, benefits the Cut Off Youth Center, which provides Biddy Basketball, swimming, BINGO and other community affairs to citizens of Lafourche Parish.

In addition to the music, food booths surround COYC’s pavilion and there are countless dishes with Louisiana cuisine.

There are also carnival rides and games for children.

The festival begins Friday and ends on Sunday afternoon.
