Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s detectives have few leads to go on in last week’s brutal murder of a 26-year-old man inside his west-Houma apartment.

Lamark Jerome Johnson, of 6745 Alma St., was allegedly attacked by two men inside his residence around 11 p.m., according to authorities. Johnson lived there with his girlfriend and three young children.

Capt. Malcolm Wolfe said Johnson answered the door and let the two men inside. It’s not known if Johnson knew his attackers.

“We don’t know that, but he let them in,” Wolfe said. “The door was not kicked in.”

Johnson was stabbed multiple times in the chest and head. The men fled the scene; it is not known if they fled by foot or vehicle, authorities said.

Johnson’s 25-year-old girlfriend and the couple’s three children – a 5-year-old girl, two boys, ages 3 and 1 – were in the apartment when the intruders stabbed Johnson. Wolfe said they were in another room and did not see the attack.

The girlfriend reportedly called a friend to take Johnson to Terrebonne General Medical Center for treatment.

He died shortly after arrival, authorities said.

Detectives found blood and the kitchen knife used in the stabbing, Wolfe said.

Witnesses described one of the attackers as a tall, dark-complexioned black man wearing a short-sleeve black T-shirt and a black cap. The second man is described as a “very short,” light-complexioned black man wearing a sleeveless white shirt.

Wolfe said the case remains under investigation.
