As we enter the Fall and Winter Holiday seasons, a nice and warm feeling comes across us. The smell of hot apple cider, hot chocolate and peppermint is in the air; then the Christmas and Holiday markets open to add to the Holiday cheer!

Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild is pleased to announce the market’s Grand Reopening from 10:00am – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19 at the Downtown Gallery located at 630 Belanger St. The local non-profit organization has experienced devastation due to COVID-19 and recently Hurricane Ida, but are excited to welcome the community to celebrate their annual holiday festivities.

“We will hold a Grand Reopening Christmas Art Market on Saturday (Dec 4) from 1pm to 7pm. The Houma Downtown Christmas Parade takes place at 5pm. We invite the public to visit us and shop our Christmas Show,” says Kathy Rhodes, who serves as chair of the Christmas Show and Hurricane Ida Recovery team.

The Christmas Show and Sale runs from Nov 19 – Dec 28 and will host festive activities including “Selfies with Santa,” door prizes, refreshments, and a special exhibit of lighted art. The Christmas Show and sale offers a variety of arts and crafts by the market’s member artists which includes hand painted/handmade ornaments, Santa Oysters, Dried Okra, Ornaments, shells and more. Many artworks of all sizes are available in various media including acrylic, pastel, oil, watercolor, mosaics, collage, and photography and cards!

In addition to a plethora of holiday activities, The Market is hosting a Christmas Tree fundraiser where celebrants can purchase ornaments (bulbs and mini canvases) painted by gallery members for $5 to support the gallery. In addition, the market is accepting donations to cover their insurance deductible – donations can be made to the organizations GoFundMe. All donations are appreciated.
