Tis’ the season to give! The Houma Area Convention and Visitors Bureau are playing Santa’s little helper this holiday season. The center is hosting a Toy Drive distribution for 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on December 11, at the Visitors Center located at 114 Tourist Drive in Gray, Louisiana.

The Houma Area CVB has been collecting toys to help families in Terrebonne Parish who were affected by Hurricane Ida put gifts under the Christmas tree this holiday season. The distribution is free to the public and will not require registration. It will be first come, first serve basis, with one toy distributed per child. There will also be a free gift wrapping station set up in the conference room to offer the opportunity to wrap their child’s gift.

“We’re allowing the parents  and guardians to come in and choose a toy, so that the kids won’t know that the gifts are coming from us, that way the parents can give it to their kids from themselves or from Santa to give them that sense of pride,” says Visitors Services Specialist Shelby Guildry.

Interested in donating?  There’s still time!

The Houma Area CVB is accepting donations until Friday, December 10,2021, at the Visitors Center. Coordinators encourage that donated toys meet the following requirements:

  • All toys remain unwrapped

  • $20-$50 spending range

  • No realistic toy weapons or food

  • Gifts for children 0-16

The HACVB has created an Amazon Wish-list for recommendations of gifts for all ages that can be shipped directly to the Visitors Center:
