Former Louisiana poet laureate Darrell Bourque is the guest lecturer at tomorrow’s celebration of the 28th anniversary of the Fletcher Lecture Series at Nicholls State University.

Bourque’s lecture, titled “In the Company of Others: A Talk and Reading,” begins at 6 p.m. in the Talbot Theater. The event is free to the public.

A question-and-answer session with Bourque is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Plantation Suite of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union, followed by a pre-lecture reception in the Talbot Theater lobby at 5 p.m.

Named after former Nicholls department head Dr. Marie Fletcher, the Fletcher Lecture Series is sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literature. Past presenters at the series include Robert Penn Warren, Ernest Gaines, Maxine Hong Kingston, Sam Pickering, Marilynn Robinson and Olympia Vernon.
