A Lafourche Parish grand jury indicted a former Thibodaux Police officer last Friday on one count of malfeasance in office.

The grand jury began hearing testimony last Friday morning. Lafourche Parish District Attorney Cam Morvant and Assistant District Attorney Rene Gautreaux were in charge of the case.

The district attorney’s office reported that Thibodaux Police officer Rodney Rhodes was indicted for filing a police report last year containing false information in connection with the arrests of two trusties housed at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

The report said Rhodes allegedly filed the report on October 2, 2008.

Judge Walter Lanier III issued a bench warrant for Rhodes’ arrest and set his bond at $5,000.
