Port Fourchon has issued a voluntary evacuation for the port.
Officials announced the decision this afternoon, citing a shift to their Storm Phase II. This means that Fourchon is expected to receive tropical storm force winds in the next 72 hours because of likely Tropical Storm Barry in the Gulf.
The port asked tenants to please begin securing or moving equipment out of the port and determine the intentions and/or special needs of all vessels and personnel at facilities within the port.
As of now, La. Highway 1 and other roads are open to vehicular traffic, but closures may quickly occur – especially between Golden Meadow and Leeville.
Port Fourchon Harbor Police will be closely monitoring the condition of the roadway and the Port Commission will update on any closures as information becomes available.
The Port also sent out a list of information it was given from the National Weather Serivce in terms of anticipated impacts the storm may give us.

RAINFALL: Rainfall totals of 6 to 12 inches are possible through Monday, locally up to 18 inches.
TIDES/STORM SURGE: Expected storm surge of 3-5 feet.
WINDS: Tropical storm force winds expected late Thursday into early Friday. Isolated tornadoes may be possible.
ROADWAYS: No closures in effect at this time.
