Worried about your boat becoming contaminated when it comes in contact with oil?

The Unified Command has opened 17 decontamination stations across Louisiana, including one in Port Fourchon.

These stations can accommodate response vessels and commercial vessels, as well as recreational vessels.

Boaters wishing to contact a decontamination station while at sea can contact the Decontamination Dispatcher at (985) 493-3343, email at mc252decon@gmail.com or radio by VHF Channel 16.

Any of the 17 stations will provide free, initial decontamination in accordance with standards established by the Unified Command, but a boater can request final decontamination only at the Port Fourchon station.

Final decontamination is also free of charge and including removed all stains from the boat’s hull.

Boaters can file a claim through BP by acquiring documentation at the Port Fourchon station if the final decontamination is not up to their standards.
