Loney John Grabert, 37, of Donner has announced his intention to run for the position of assessor in Terrebonne Parish.

A 1992 graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School, Grabert has worked in the parish assessor’s office for 10 years and is the current chief deputy assessor.

Grabert said that his knowledge and on-the-job experience, along with his academic training from the Louisiana Assessor’s Association, offers an advantage to his filling this position.

If elected, Grabert said he intends to personally meet with taxpayers to keep assessments fair for both homeowners and businesses. He wants to continue updating the assessor’s office with technology including a digital mapping system.

Grabert and his wife, Melissa, have one son.
