Houma’s Once Upon A Cajun Christmas parade, cancelled last week due to a flurry of cold temperatures and wet weather, is set to kickoff tomorrow at 6 p.m.

According to Anne Picou, the Main Street manager for Houma, the time change will accommodate students who will be attending school the next day.

While the parade route will stay the same, Picou said the Vandebilt Catholic High School marching band will not be participating. As planned, 20 floats will roll along Main and Barrow streets. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be making the journey from the North Pole.

In the event of bad weather, the parade will not be rescheduled.

Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild is also rescheduling its open house at the Downtown Art Gallery, 630 Belanger St. It will last from 5 to 7 p.m.

Children ages 4 through 12 are eligible to register for prizes at the gallery before the Christmas parade. Winners will be notified Dec. 23.

Also, Houma Regional Arts Council is planning to feature Frosty The Snowman and Rudolf The Red-Nosed Reindeer at Memorial Square following the conclusion of the parade.
