Houma-Thibodaux diocese names latest appointments

Twelve area priests will assume new roles effective June 25, Bishop Sam G. Jacobs of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux announced.

Jacobs announced the following appointments:

• The Rev. Anthony Anokete, who is currently serving as chaplain of Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma will be taking a leave of absence outside of the diocese to further his studies.

• The Rev. Thomas Kuriakose, who is currently an associate pastor at Sacred Heart Church parish in Cut Off, will fill Anokete’s vacancy for three years. He will be in-residence at the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales in Houma.

• The Rev. Jacinto Beltran, an associate pastor of Maria Immacolata Church parish, has been appointed associate pastor of Sacred Heart and Holy Cross Church parishes in Morgan City for three years

• The Rev. Nilo C. Batausa, an associate pastor of Annunziata Church parish in Houma, has been appointed associate pastor of Maria Immacolata Church parish in Houma for three years.

• The Rev. Josekutty Varghese, an associate pastor of Annunziata Church parish in Houma, has been appointed pastor of St. Lawrence Church parish in Chacahoula for six years.

• The Rev. Michael Bergeron, pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church parish in Golden Meadow, has been appointed pastor of Annunziata Church parish in Houma for six years.

• The Rev. Robert Cruz, pastor of Holy Savior Church parish in Lockport, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church parish in Chackbay for six years.

• The Rev. Glenn LeCompte, pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church parish in Chackbay, has been appointed associate pastor of the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales in Houma and director of the diocesan offices of Worship and Continuing Education of the Clergy for three years.

• The Rev. Carlos Talavera, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church parish in the St. Charles Community, has been appointed pastor of Holy Savior Church parish in Lockport for six years.

• The Rev. Michael Manase, an associate pastor of Holy Savior Church parish in Lockport, has been appointed pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church parish in the St. Charles Community for six years.

• The Rev. Scott Dugas, who is currently serving as administrator of St. Lawrence Church parish in Chacahoula, will be taking a leave of absence outside of the diocese.

• The Rev. Ronilo A. Villamor, an associate pastor of St. Bernadette Church parish in Houma, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church parish in Golden Meadow for six years.
