Lafourche DA plays Grinch to deadbeat parents

The Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Child Support Division recently nabbed 20 deadbeat parents wanted for non-appearance or failure to pay child support. Collectively, the adults were behind $180,000 in child support payments, according to authorities.

The District Attorney’s office and personnel from other government entities n the State of Louisiana, Office of Family Support, Child Support Office, Thibodaux Police Department and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, conducted the roundup Monday morning.

“We’ve found that these roundup operations have been a very effective tool in recovering past due child support from deadbeat parents,” said District Attorney Camille A. Morvant II. “I want to thank Sheriff Craig Webre and Chief Craig Melancon for the roles their departments played in this operation.”

According to Sharon Duet, support enforcement district manager, “The total arrears owed by the individuals sought totaled over $180,000. We are very proud of our team.”

The following individuals listed (along with their last known address and the amounts they owe) were the focus of the early morning roundup:

• Jamal Thompson, 901 Lagarde St., Thibodaux, $2,830.22;

• Mark Dugas, 1511 Lynn St., Thibodaux, $1,243.96;

• Troy Leray, 1827 Badt St., Thibodaux, $11,180;

• Larry Duncan, 200 Ridgeway St., Thibodaux, $29,101.63;

• Huey Phillips, 1700 South Barbier, Thibodaux, $4,860.01;

• Lee Walker III, 306 Dove Ln., Thibodaux, $1,452.80;

• Quentin Lavergne, 1719 Oakley Crt., Apt. 1, Thibodaux, $8,192.45;

• Michael Robinson, 145B Notre Dame, Thibodaux, $4,647.48;

• Frank Mitchell, 2352 Hwy. 308, Thibodaux, $14,458.21;

• Spencer Davis Jr., 513 Triple Oaks, Raceland, $775;

• David Jenkins, 422 E. Lafourche St., Raceland, $2,451.77;

• Jason Bonaventure, 164 Cassidy Ln., Lockport, $20,382.12;

• Kenneth Gardner, 201 Romy or 195 E. 116 St., Lockport, $13,443.41;

• Allen Danos, 224 West 221 St., Golden Meadow, $12,543.88;

• Steven Angelle, 213 Bayou Gardens Dr., Apt. 5, Houma, $31,440.31;

• James Bourgeois, 217 Sharon Ave., Boutte, $3,337.44;

• Glenn Harrilal, 189 Goshen Ln., Reserve, $9,032.33;

• Michael Foley, 2449 Hwy. 18, Edgard, $3,076.89;

• William Davis, 620 Clayton Dr., Norco, $4,152.31;

• Lael Alexander, 139 East 12th St., Edgard, $14,027.86.

Law enforcement authorities arrested Duncan, Walker, Robinson and Danos, Morvant said.
