Lafourche Parish’s council members will take a four-year oath of office Sunday, Jan. 6, at St. Hilary of Poitiers School Auditorium on Twin Oaks Drive in Mathews.

The 2 p.m. ceremony marks the beginning of the new term for Lafourche Parish President Charlotte Randolph and the nine council members.

Louisiana Supreme Court Justice John Weimer of Thibodaux will administer the oaths of office to Randolph and returning parish council members Michael Delatte, Phillip Gouaux, Daniel Lorraine and Lindel Toups. Five newly-elected council members – three of whom have previously served on the council – will also be sworn. They are Rodney Doucet, Joe Fertitta, Jerry Jones, Matt Matherne and Louis Richard.

Fertitta, Jones and Matherne have served earlier terms on the Lafourche Parish Council.

Following the swearing in ceremony, a brief council meeting is expected to be to elect a council chairman and vice chairman for the four-year term. The public is invited to attend.
