Stella Chiasson Lasseigne is seeking re-election to the Lafourche Parish School Board for District 5 in the fall election.

With over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience, plus local and state governmental service, Lasseigne says she has the qualifications and leadership skills to continue as an effective representative of District 5 on the Lafourche Parish School Board.

In announcing, Lasseigne made the following statement:

“My priorities as a school board member have been: (1) to meet the educational needs of all students to secure a solid education, (2) to support teachers, administrators and staff, (3) to promote the general welfare of the entire school system and of all employees, (4) to work with the state legislators and the Louisiana School Board Association staff to lobby for new ways to infuse dollars into the classroom. Presently, I chair the Policy and Procedure Committee, and also serve on the Insurance and Salary Study committees. I have previously served on the Finance and Evaluation of the Superintendent committees.”

At the state level, Lasseigne is presently president of the Louisiana School Board Association and the Southern Region Conference; and member of the Federal Relations Network, lobbying for education in Washington, D.C.
