March 5, 2013The Terrebonne High School Band will host its annual Lenten Shrimp Boil Fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday.
“The money normally goes to instruments and music,” said Darryl Barrios, THS Band Boosters public relations chair. “Those are our two biggest expenses. Some of the money may also go to fund the summer band camp. The kids attend a camp for two weeks during the summer to learn the music for the football season halftime shows.”
Dinners are $10 each and include large boiled shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage and dipping sauce.
“We have been having the fundraiser for about 10 years, and we do really well with it,” Barrios said. “The community is very supportive of the band, and we made about $6,000 last year. All of the items for the event are donated and, if we can’t get them donated, we purchase them locally.”
