Thirteen isn’t always a lucky number, but for the Bollinger Fourchon LLC it is.

The facility has worked 13 years without a lost-time accident.

Bollinger Shipyards strives for zero accidents, emphasizing safety among its workforce, contractors and customers.

“Our Fourchon personnel have withstood the test of time, as our shipyard in Port Fourchon has grown over the past 13 years,” Bollinger’s Chief Operating Officer Ben Bordelon said in a release. “With the sustained effort of our employees, Bollinger continues to be one of the safest shipyards in America.

“Congratulations to everyone at the Fourchon facility for their efforts in making our safety program successful,” he said.

This spring, Bollinger received the 2013 “Award for Excellence in Safety” from the Shipbuilders Council of America for the ninth consecutive year.

The Shipbuilders Council represents more than 120 shipyards across the U.S.

In May, Bollinger announced the Bollinger Fourchon North expansion, a 50-acre complex in the middle of the hub. Construction will be completed the first quarter of 2015. It will include multiple modern dry-docks, ample lifting capacity with mobile crane units, a fabrication shop, warehouse and lay-down and staging areas for projects, as well as a business complex for customers, regulatory agencies and vendors.

The Bollinger Fourchon shipyard services the nation’s busiest oil and gas support terminals in the United States.
