Bourgeois Meat Market was named “Business of the Year” by the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce at last night’s 42nd annual Awards Banquet.

Thibodaux Regional Medical Center was named “Member of the Year,” while Mel Baudoin was given the C. Lindy and Mary Anne Delaune Hoffman’s Music’s Unsung Hero Award.

Alex Plaisance, a senior at Thibodaux High School, took home the 2008 Teenager of the Year honor, and R. Gibbens Robichaux was presented the 2008 Frank Kennedy Citizen of the Year award.

The annual awards ceremony honors business leaders and individuals for their contributions to Thibodaux’s business and civic communities.

John Gonzales, manager of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s southwest office presented chamber President Kathy Benoit with a plaque recognizing the organization’s recent accreditation.

Thibodaux’ Carl Johnson, a full-time employee of the Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Company and NFL official, talked about his experiences officiating the 2008 Super Bowl during the keynote address.
