Houma-based CPA Craig Breerwood has been named to the Society of Louisiana CPA’s first-ever Young CPA Board.

Breerwood is one of nine board members whose terms run from 2007-2009. He is a senior accountant with Charles Theriot CPAs in Houma.

The YCPA board is comprised of more than 800 members ages 35 and under. The board’s mission is to give voice to young CPA’s interests, guide the LCPA in addressing generational differences affecting younger members and to develop opportunities to engage young CPAs in the profession.

“I hope the YCPA board can help young professionals to understand the benefits of increased interaction and involvement with the state society,” Breerwood said. “For me, having the chance to network with other professionals is the major reason I’m interested in serving on the board. Providing similar networking opportunities to other young CPAs is one of the main member benefits the board and the LCPA can offer.”

According to LCPA President Brent Silva, establishing the YCPA board was a necessity.

“Young CPAs bring a progressive aspect to the profession that the LCPA can harness,” he explained.
