The first ever Bayou Region Business Boot Camp will be held Sept. 29 at Nicholls State

University.

The camp is geared toward educating pre-venture and early stage businesses about the requirements to start and run a successful business. A panel of local experts – businessmen who have personally experienced and conquered the challenges of starting a new enterprise will share their “Entrepreneurial War Stories” at all of the sessions.

Louisiana Business and Technology Center are hosting the event. It is open to entrepreneurs, small businesses, chamber members, students, faculty and staff.

All fees are being paid through the Technical Assistance Network, a state Economic Development sponsored program designed to help small business recover from the 2005 hurricane season.

Training sessions include four key areas of building a small business: Business planning;

Marketing; Finance; Business organization.

Joy Banner, a doctorate candidate in family entrepreneurship, will share her experiences in building a business from scratch, and will offer insight to those looking to do the same.
