October 28, 2010The Greater Lafourche Port Commission will discuss plans to replace longtime Port Commission member Johnny Melancon at a special meeting today at 10:30 a.m.
Melancon, 69, passed away last Monday following a long battle with heart problems.
The Port Commission plans to honor Melancon at the meeting, while appointing a temporary successor for the elected official.
The Port Commission will also discuss setting a special election date and qualifying deadlines for anyone who is interested in holding the now vacant seat.
