Dr. Peter Fail, an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), received level-three certification in the cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) experience program in December.

Level-three certification is the highest level of expertise a practitioner may achieve and paves the way for physicians to further their education in cardiovascular specialties. To receive certification, a practitioner must pass comprehensive standards set by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT).

Fail is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is also director of CT imaging, medical director of interventional trials for the CIS Clinical Research Corporation and the director of the institute’s cardiac catheterization laboratory. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Medical Association.
