The electric company awarded Fletcher’s humanities department a $3,795 grant, which will be used to obtain a license for in-class and online access to BRAVO, an interactive software suite designed to improve learning.

The program’s four training templates are customizable to offer students educational content in a dynamic way.

“At Entergy, we truly value the role that education plays in helping to improve the community,” Henry Gernhauser, regional customer service manager for Entergy Louisiana, said in a release. “We are very happy to award this grant to Fletcher Technical Community College to help their students gain access to the latest and best educational tools.”

With the software, Fletcher will poll its students at the start of each semester to measure how much their level of learning has increased as a result of using BRAVO, school officials said.

“Research has shown that teaching strategies that employ cooperative instruction, such as on-line tools, help to engage students and result in greater learning and retention of facts,” Fletcher instructor Bonnie Le said. “We appreciate Entergy providing this grant for our students.”
