In order to help keep more people safe and healthy, The Foundation for Terrebonne General Medical Center has awarded contributions to TGMC and the TGMC Community Sports Institute.

The contributions total $200,000, and they were presented at recent check presentations, according to the medical center.

“The Foundation for TGMC, the philanthropic arm of TGMC, is crucial to providing the means for our community to receive the very best health care,” Mike Fakier, Chairman of the Board of The Foundation for TGMC, said in a release. “We very much appreciate the support of our community in these endeavors and look forward to continuing to raise money for these and other programs at TGMC.”

The Foundation of TGMC Fundraisers include Rooftop Roundup, which happened earlier this month, and The Take Aim at Heart Disease Clay Shoot in the spring.

The foundation board presented a $30,000 check designated to cardiac research and innovative technology at TGMC. Additionally, the foundation presented contributions of $120,000 to TGMC’s Community Sports Institute and $14,000 to TGMC’s Diabetes Education program, among other donations.

According to the medical center, the Structural Heart Program is the only program of its kind offered in southeastern Louisiana and is one of the main focuses of this research.

Local cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Edgar Feinberg and interventional cardiologist Dr. Peter Fail provide life-saving procedures for patients with heart valve disorders and structural heart defects at TGMC.
